Our Story
A success story reaching from Eğin, a small Anatolian town by the banks of the Fırat River, to the present day.
The founder of this story, Hüseyin Alptekin, started his own business in Eğin (now Kemaliye), a town where it was difficult to work outside of handicrafts, by engaging in handmade rug production. After some time, to provide a good education for his children, Hüseyin Alptekin decided to move to Istanbul.
Upon moving to Istanbul with his family, Alptekin, unable to continue rug production in the big city, used his acquired knowledge and skills to establish his first business, “Hüseyin Alptekin Dye Company,” at No. 32 Başar Han in Tahtakale, Istanbul, laying the foundations of his company in 1952.
In the following years, his son, Turgut Alptekin, joined the business while continuing his education. Together, they achieved further success by establishing close relationships with leading European dye manufacturers and directly starting imports.
Starting from his high school years, Turgut Alptekin further developed his expertise in the dye industry. During summer vacations, he worked at manufacturing companies in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, and East Germany, where he trained in key areas of dye production and application.
The Dye Production Factory is Established!
In the 1970s, when imports became challenging, a dye production factory was established to meet needs and expand sales. This factory quickly grew and became ALP-NAR Inc., Turkey’s first private sector dye manufacturing facility.
Located on today’s Halkalı Ayamama Deresi land, the factory produced cotton direct and wool acid dyes. As the business rapidly expanded, the partners began contract manufacturing for some European companies.
After twenty years in business, the partners decided to close strategically due to the entry of Far Eastern manufacturers into the market.
Today, with the involvement of the fourth generation, the Alptekin family continues operations in proforma sales, import, export, and manufacturing through the free zone company Alptekin Dyes Chemicals M.Atilla Alptekin and Partners, as well as domestic companies Alptekin Dye and Chemical Products Inc. and Alptekindyes Dye and Chemical Industry Trade Ltd.
